Fast & Frugal Friday: Bison Steak ala Montreal

My friends often ask 'Do you cook like this every night?' My honest answer: NO! I take many short cuts and below is the perfect example.

It is also a perfect example of:
1. That you can cook something quick and not run to get fast food once a week.
2. You can eat meat and have it be on the healthier side and reap the protein/nutrient rewards.
3. There are great shortcuts out there that are delicious.
A perfect, and cult classic at this point, is McCormick's Montreal Seasoning. I am thrilled that there is now a 25% less sodium version as well. Shake onto your steak, grill to your liking and ingest.

I was lucky enough to find these steaks at the McQuade's Market in Mystic (same place where I acquired the ground bison featured in the burger's last week). They were $8.50 and all four of us has plenty.

Oh, I use the Great Range bison meats! We are lucky to have a regular supply in Wegmans!

Loving Annie - what can we do to convince you to try bison? It's really very good :)

I've never had bison, but I've always wanted to try it!

Annie-are you a vegetarian? If not, the bison is like having a very expensive steak. The texture is really smooth and creamy. It is...right Natasha?

I love eating Bison, though I don't do it often enough I realize. And I'm all about a few shortcuts here and there...otherwise I might never leave the kitchen! Yum!

I'll add my vote for bison meat! There is a ranch nearby that sells fresh bison at local groceries and at the farmer's market during the summer. The flavor is wonderful and it lower in fat than beef. Delicious!

I really like bison meat. My husbands company have a few on their farm and sometimes they will sell the meat to employees. We've gotten ground bison, but I haven't tried a steak with it. We also have a restaurant in town there serving fancy bison burgers and they are soooo good.
